Henderson Homes can be custom-built to compensate for any disability!

There are all kinds of disabilities...from loss of finger movement to the need for a wheelchair. Our homes can be designed and engineered to allow the homeowners to accommodate aging family members or to maintain a comfortable lifestyle as they grow older.

It is amazing what a small change in the handle on a door or cupboard can do to help make life easier!

CASE STUDIES

Alfred & Pamela Nisi

Pamela is 5' and it is difficult to reach some items that are located at standard levels. When we built her custom home we made lower cabinets and changed placement of other items to make her life more accessible. In addition, her husband Alfred is 6' 1" and it was important to make some storage fairly high for him.

Also with Multiple Sclerosis, Pamela may need additional movement devices in the future. We widened the doorways and placed tubs and sinks more accessibly to her. There are many ways to build a handicapped accessible home to accommodate the unique needs of every homeowner!

Marilyn Bretthauer

Marilyn is in her 60's and was in a wheelchair for ten months. She was forced to put the bed in her living room and could not visit any of her children because they did not have wheelchair accessible homes either. Even widening a doorway can make a big difference for someone bound to a wheelchair!

One of her daughters said, "We built our home seven years ago and did not think about what we might need in the future. When we build our next custom home we will widen some doorways and choose easier handles and light switches for our family and friends."

Even small changes to fixtures and appliances make a big difference!
